Only 4 sleeps left to the big event (about to have one of those sleeps right now!)
As I mentioned in my last post, my training hasn’t quite gone to plan now that I’m pregnant… I’ve tried to do what I can, but my pace and endurance have plummeted.
Hats off to those that run all the way through.
I’m 22 weeks on Saturday and I’m feeling pretty knackered when running!
My motivation for the run is the fact I’m doing it for me and my bump, our first 1/2 together… I even had this maternity top made for me to run in…
It has the MS Trust badge on there as I’m trying to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis, a charity very close to my heart. FUNDRAISING PAGE
I had a lovely card through today from the MS Trust to wish my brother Jamie, the bump and I good luck for Sunday…
Lastly, the all important number arrived today too…
So, the race is on! I have my support belt for my ever growing bump, my running gear is at the ready and I just need a new water bottle to keep my fully hydrated. My only concern is whether or not I’ll finish the race in the allotted time.
After the high of doing 10 miles last weekend… I attempted 5 miles last night and only managed 2.46 miles. I was so beaten and in pain, I had to call it a day. So now I’m worried I just won’t get far at all on Sunday 😢

… 9am I met my running buddy out in the cold, but the sun was shining.
We chatted and caught up while running a new route.
Setting off to complete 4 miles at constant chatting speed!
Despite the nip in the air, it was a beautiful morning.
First proper sun we’ve seen this year.
We discussed our concerns regarding getting in enough miles for the rock n roll 1/2 marathon that looms closer everyday now, I worry it will be a run/walk for me… but I’ll be happy to just finish it either way!
My running buddy is off to Florida soon, as well as her birthday fast approaching – so we had lots to matter about!
We finally completed our 4 miles and bobbed in the cafe at the park.
A cup of teapigs peppermint tea and a cup of water, I couldn’t be happier… It took us longer to chat some more and drink our tea than it did to run 4 miles!!
Home, showered and crashed out afterwards.
Felt really good to get a morning run in, I enjoyed today so much.
I ended January on 49.04 miles… unfortunately, I worked this out on the last hour and had no time to round up to 50!!
Previous to this my most miles was 35 in December, so I’m really pleased!
Feb has been a different story though, been a bit unwell and struggled to get out there and having physio on my knee meant I have been quite worried about hurting it. I’ve increased my Crossfit classes and also doing strength based PT sessions, but I’ve only run a handful of times.
Yesterday was weekly plodders and I jumped into the 6.30pm group and did 4 miles with a hill climb at the end, got back to base and rather than go home, I jumped onto the next group and did a slower 4 miles with them!
I was spurred on by the virtual race I had entered!
Felt good to get 8 miles in last night, my knee was rock taped up and I had no pain.
I entered my time into the Kryptonite 10k race i signed up for through POW! Virtual Running and now I’m excited to receive my medal!
Today (Monday 11th) I met up with a fellow plodder… one of the leaders, a fast plodder with a lot of races to her name… she is just awesome… slightly insane and crazy but an amazing runner.
Anyway, tonight we met for a sprint session.
It was tough.
The more I work on endurance and distance the worse I seem to get at sprinting.
It makes no sense to me!
But I’m not going to get anywhere unless I keep at it and keep ploughing on!
I managed to work out the ‘lap’ button on my garmin 235 (still need to suss the auto stop)

As you can see, my sprints got faster as I got more tired. I don’t understand why or how! The last sprint it had started raining, so I did it with the rain hitting my face and my eyes closed most of the run!
I also discovered these sprints were up a slight elevation. Ouch!
Doing a shorter sprint session tonight, over 200m distance.
Right now though, my legs are goosed and resting 😊
